Deome put on about 10lbs of muscle from last season and got back to doing what he does best, winning and performing. The 6’3 SS went 2-3 on the day with two of the loudest barrels of the game. His first hit was a single through the middle of the field, and his next hit was a pull side single, stretched into a hustle double. The main thing I noticed was how calm Deome looked in the box, never once he looked rushed, the rhythm and timing all worked together. Defensively, the work he put in the offseason showed up, things are starting to trend in the right direction on the left side of the infield. Deome didn’t commit any errors, he and Mcneal might be one of the best middle infielders in northern California.
Deome is a very familiar face who I've gotten to monitor a good amount this season at West Park High School. Deome has been recently playing with the Lincoln Potters Collegiate summer ball team and has been lighting up the summer circuit coming off of an amazing junior campaign. Deome is really turning into the complete package, he’s proved he can stick on the left side of the infield and this year he stuck at shortstop with no problems. Deome is a bat that you're going to hear about for a while, he’s got such a mature approach and he's finally learning how to pull the ball with backspin. During the 60’s in the workout Deome posted a 6.9 which was a personal best since his last time running in early January. Weighing in at 6 '2 200lbs Deome has a ton of physicality to work with and grow into, his grip strength was 149 on his right and 150 on his left, almost doubling his previous scores from the NC-PSAS. Deome had a max EV of 98.6 mph and an average EV of 90.4 mph, with a max distance of 371 ft. All of his numbers from January have gone up a lot and it's only been half of a year, so expect him to do some damage around the summer circuit. In the gameplay, Deome had two hits showing off his bat to ball skills and finding barrels off of some good pitching. His swing is compact yet explosive, with quick hands and a disciplined approach that sprays hard contact to all fields. As he matures, Deome projects to develop above-average power, making him a potential middle-of-the-order threat. Deome’s makeup stands out; he's a gamer who elevates in high-pressure situations.
Deome is really starting to come around defensively after making the transition from third base to shortstop. He’s got more than enough arm strength to stay on the left side, he just needs more reps at the spot and he will be more than capable to play both. There were a couple balls hit to Deome and he had no problem making the routine play, hands are soft. Deome is looking a lot more physical this season too and it’s showing in his offense since he’s starting the season off hitting a whopping .536 with six doubles and one homerun already. Deome doesn’t just show his power to one side of the field, he continues to prove his pop to spray the ball all over. This game he went 2-4 with a double the other way that split the gap, Deome looked like he was running the bases really well, the 6’3” 200lb frame got to second base on that double with very clean turns. Unfortunately, the Panthers couldn’t secure the win but they sure showed a lot of fight to get back into the game late after being down early.
Ayden stands at 6'1" 195.6lbs and his grip strength was 119.8 (R) & 126.9 (L). Deome has a prototypical 3B body with a accurate/strong arm when throwing across. Stays pretty low and through the ball, needs to play more free in the INF. The stick has always been there for Ayden. His max EV of the day was 92.7 MPH with and avg of 88.7 MPH. Found the sweet spot 77.8 % of the time whcih resulted in tons of line drives. Deome is even more impressive in game off of velo. His 60 yd dash was a 7.18 with a max speed of 19.3 MPH. I'll be seeing Ayden this season as he will try to lead West Park HS to a league title. Deome is the #7 ranked 3B in the class of 26' in the country and #97 ranked player overall in the country.
