8/13/19: Burrell didn’t pop with big velocity, but displayed a very quick arm with an 88-to-92 mph fastball sporting occasional explosion the last 10 feet to the dish, and lefty bats, in particular, struggled to barrel the offering. He backed-up the fastball with a plus CB that worked consistently in the 77-to-80 mph velo band and came with impressive spin and shape. Burzell struggled to consistently spot his fastball, too often leaving the offering over the fat of the plate and allowing too much hard contact as a result. Still, there are good raw materials to work with here – particularly with an underclass arm – including arm speed and spin to spare. He projects as a potential mid-to-late Day Two target and will need to show a little tighter execution and effective third offering to get there.

10/15/18: Six-foot-six, 210 pound righty with arm strength. Throws with effort. High back leg, off-line, scissor finish leads to below average extension out front. Fastball sat 89-94 from a high three-quarter slot, showing bore at times. Mixed in a flat 75-78 mph slider and 84 mph changeup. Overall, an intriguing combination of projectable body type with present velocity. Will need to cleanup delivery and lessen the effort to avoid injury and sharpen control and secondary offerings.
