2/20/19 - Klassen is showing why he is climbing scouting boards in a hurry thanks largely to his left-handed bat that is one of the purest in the state in this draft class. The power is showing itself as well - he hit his first home run of the season a day earlier - even when he doesn’t square balls up. On this day he hit a missile to right-center field that was didn’t drop thanks to a great diving catch by the center fielder. But the ball was punished and it looked as though Klassen didn’t swing that hard. That’s the thing about Klassen, his swing looks effortless even when he’s banging balls all over the field. Later in the game he broke a 5-5 tie when he drove a fastball away into left-center field to score two. It was a perfect display of who Klassen is as a hitter, he’s not up there trying to hit one out every time. Instead he takes what the pitcher gives him and does damage.
