Game Performance

3/14/24

Thompson, an Oklahoma State commit, continues to draw plenty of walks on the season that have consistently led to him scoring runs for his team. Thomspon’s two outs were a 6-3 putout, as well as a routine fly to left. Both outs were more of throwing his hands at the ball early in counts as opposed to his usual patient approach. While these outs weren’t quality at bats, his walks both were a result of laying off close pitches, showing the same discipline we have seen all spring.

3/05/24

Down a run in a 4-3 game, Thompson battled with a 9 pitch at bat that saw him deliver a full count fastball to the opposite field for a game tying single. It was just two hitters later that Thompson had a phenomenal jump from second to score the winning run on a base hit to center. Still hitting from the leadoff spot, Thompson shows quality patience at the plate, and only seems to swing at borderline pitches when down in the count. So far, he’s had an impressive plate presence this spring.
