2/12/19 - Lopez was the first arm out of the pen for Cypress and showed very well during his outing (1.1 IP, H, 2K, BB).  He came in and ended a LBCC threat after the Vikings scored two runs. Lopez has the profile of middle reliever at the next level thanks to his command of two pitches - fastball, slider - and the ability to throw them in any count. He showed a changeup twice that has indications of a potential serviceable pitch in his arsenal at 81-82 mph. There’s some whippyness to arm where it lags behind the body before exploding through at high 3/4 slot. His fastball has life through the zone, at times too much. Working 89-90, tt runs to the arm side and can get away from him at times. His slider at 81-83 is presently his best pitch with its “fall off the table” movement after it starts on the same plane as his fastball. He was able to backdoor it to a lefty for a strike showing his command of the pitch.
