The uncommitted backstop is a standout on the gridiron for LaSalle and will be the same on the diamond for the Lancers. A very athletic and mobile catcher, his strong frame and quick reflexes allow him to get balls out of the zone with ease. A quiet setup and soft hands bely his ability to catch and throw from the crouched position. He was consistently 1.94-2.01 in-between innings with no stolen base attempts in-game. Cardenas smoked a ball to left field for a double before scoring the first run of the game on a base hit from the next batter. He later added another single through the middle before taking second base on the throw.
