The USC commit busted out a hand-timed 6.78 60-yard dash to start his day. Schrier struggled a bit in his first round of BP but made up for it in his second with line drive after line drive. Showed some power in that second round two with a couple balls to the fence. Got rang up on a questionable call (catcher’s called strikes) in the game. Schrier has enough credit in the bank based off past performances to overlook a shaky BP round. Defensively the actions are smooth with range to both sides and excellent footwork. Hands are smooth and fast and the arm can make all the throws.
USC commit. The #2 ranked player in the 2021 class looks much more physical with pronounced strength in his entire frame and particularly in the shoulders and lower half. There's no questioning his defensive talents where his first step and range allow him to get to balls that he likely shouldn't be reaching while his arm is as strong as it comes. At the plate he continues to put together quality at-bat after quality at-bat. He's selectively aggressive meaning that when he sees a pitch he likes he's looking to do damage which he usually does. He finished his day 2-for-2 with a walk. One of the hits was a flair to right field that had serious side spin causing havoc for the outfielder giving him no chance to make a play on it. He also scored all three times he reached base.
