ACG Tryout - Smooth in the outfield with another impressive low 90’s arm, Jones also displays 6.5 speed in the 60 yard dash. With a relaxed and quiet stance, Jones’ hands start low until he loads and throws a quick, quick barrel. He brings leadoff skills to the table.
Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 5-10, 145-pounds. Athletic, wiry frame with good strength in upper half; quick and agile build.
Hit: RHH. Narrow and tall to start with hands above back shoulder. Front leg hovers before forward move keeping hands high. Times where he loses posture leading to steeper hands. When he kept hands high on turn, able to have barrel turn with him and stay quick through the zone. Inside approach having liners to CF/RF consistently Hands work down and through the zone; stays tight to body and able to get good lift on finish.
Power: 80 max exit velocity
Arm: RH. INF - 75 mph. OF - 83 mph. Both INF/OF, compact arm, quick and fluid. Stays firm on throws to all bases. More coming as he matures
Defense: Aggressive, yet fluid in OF. Good direction and ability to field in time. Uses athleticism well. INF had good footwork and able to cut off the path of grounders with fluid glove actions. Able to push through and flex into the body.
