2/14/20:�On the mound opening night for the Ducks, opposing Max Meyer and the Minnesota Gophers, the 6-foot-4, 220 pound strong bodied junior certainly looked the part. Throwing from a three-quarter slot, his fastball reached 93 mph, sitting mostly 91-92. He also mixed in an 81-82 mph slider and an low-80s changeup to left-handed batters. With little deception, a below average breaking ball and a flat fastball, Kafka didn’t post the results he expected. He took the loss, allowing nine runs on ten hits in 2.2 innings pitched. As a right-hander with more stuff than performance to date (Career: 8-7, 5.99 ERA, 108.1 IP, 140 H, 56 BB, 95 SO), Kafka is a likely an early Day Three draft pick at this point. However, with 13 more weeks to the regular season, time is on his side to put up numbers and increase his draft status.
