Fernald recently got the call up to Varsity from the JV team and he didn’t disappoint at all, he’s been playing shortstop for the wildcats but he’s filling it as the third baseman in today’s match up. In his first at bat, he comes up with a runner on second base and laces a ball through the left side bringing in an RBI. Fernald was aggressive enough on the base paths to advance to second base on the throw and pull out a sweet swim move to get around the defender. Fernald was impressive to say the least at the plate but he had to leave the game early due to a small injury on the hand when sliding into second, hopefully it was nothing serious but he ended up finishing the day 1-1 with an RBI and a run scored. Fernald is going to be a fun player to follow, he isn’t the biggest of guys either so he plays scrappy and takes pride in the little parts of the game.
