FULLERTON, CALIF. - This past weekend, the staff of Prep Baseball California hosted the California State Games, which took place on July 31, Aug. 1 and 2 at Fullerton College & Fullerton High School, featuring players from the grad classes of 2027 through 2029.
Over 150 players made their way to Fullerton Junior College/Fullerton High School for the event. On Friday, all position players in attendance participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball California staff. All position players in attendance were electronically measured for height, weighed in, and recorded grip strength readings. From there, they ran a 60-yard sprint with all split times being gathered using VALD Technologies' laser timing system. Upon completion of the athletic and body testing portion of the day, the players went into offensive evaluations with multiple rounds of batting practice, where Trackman Technologies and Blast Motion swing trackers were in use to gather batted ball and swing data on players in attendance, in addition to undergoing Vizual Edge testing and VALD Jump testing. This was then followed by defensive evaluations at their primary and secondary position (OF, C, SS, 1B), with arm strength being measured via a Stalker Radar gun and skill evaluations by our staff on hand.
Once the workout day was completed, the focus of the event shifted to the live gameplay portion of the event. With 10 teams comprised of players from around the state of California, each playing two games apiece, our staff got an ample look at how the tools displayed the previous day correlated to the game performances of the players in attendance. The pitchers of the California State Games each took the mound for between two and three innings of work, with pitcher-only arms facing five hitters for three innings while two-ways faced between three and four hitters for between two and three innings of work. That made for ten games across two fields over two days where our staff got their eyes on plenty of the current top talent in California.
For the first time, our staff is announcing All-California State Games Teams with today focusing on the 2nd team honorees. In the process, we are awarding one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders, one designated hitter, one utility (two-way player), and three pitchers for the 1st and 2nd teams, while recognizing an Honorable Mention squad of outstanding performers.

CATCHER:

Zak Flinn C / OF / Arrowhead Christian Academy, CA / 2028Flinn posted a three-for-five weekend with three singles during gameplay, but topped the event workout portion with an 83 MPH C velocity and a top five 1.98 pop time. Ran a 6.85 60-yard sprint and added a 103 MPH max EV with 97.6 MPH avg EV. His defensive skillset was strongly displayed throughout his innings behind the plate, looking the part of a long-term strong defender at the premium spot. |
INFIELDERS:

Noah Chan SS / 2B / Bishop Alemany, CA / 2029Rankings StateRank: 57 / POS: 18
Chan came into the event as a heralded defender, which was consistently on display, but his three-for-five showing at the plate with three singles earns him a spot on the Second Team. He finished top three in INF arm velocity at 85 while posting a 94.1 MPH max EV and averaged just a tick under 90 MPH across all balls in play. |

Aidann Ruiz SS / C / St Anthony High School, CA / 2027Ruiz put up a three-hit weekend with one of those being a homer at Fullerton High School and drew a walk in his in-game at-bats. Beyond that, he posted a solid 97.9 MPH max EV while averaging just a tick under the 90 MPH mark on all balls in play. It was one of the better all-around offensive performances of the week. |

Jett Urbas SS / 3B / Westlake High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 168 / POS: 39
Urbas has been well-regarded by our staff for a bit now, and his showing at the California State Games backed up just why. He collected multiple hits, including a homer at Fullerton High School, and his workout data was amongst the tops on the INF dirt with a max EV of 99.5 MPH and an average EV of 93.9 MPH, showing the impact in his RH bat, to go with one of the top INF arm velocities crossing the diamond at 83 MPH. |

Easton Fernald SS / 2B / Franklin High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 245 / POS: 56
Fernald was able to show off the well-rounded toolset he possesses across each day of the event. While not collecting a hit at Fullerton College on Saturday, he made several dynamic defensive plays and then went on to post a multiple-hit day at Fullerton High School on Sunday, including leaving the yard for a homer. Fernald peaked at just under 95 MPH on his max EV while showing a 6.9 60 and accurate mid-70s INF arm on the workout day. |
OUTFIELDERS:

Hayden Bercier OF / LHP / St John Bosco, CA / 2029One of several talented rising sophomores in attendance, Bercier was able to post a multiple-hit day on Saturday at Fullerton College, including a triple while also drawing a walk to soundly put him amongst the top performers at the event. During the workout portion of the event, his advanced tools for a young age were strong, including a 7.1 60-yard time, accurate upper 70s OF arm and a 99.2 MPH max EV. |

Jordan Hall OF / 1B / Summit High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 198 / POS: 46
Hall was a standout at the 2025 California State Games and returned for the 2026 version with another strong showing over the entirety of the weekend. On the workout day, he posted an impressive run time tying for the second fastest of the event, but at a measured 6'4 223 lbs., that was one half of a power speed profile including an EV just a tick under 100 MPH at its max during batting practice. Hall put up a multiple-hit weekend, including a rocket double off the wall at Fullerton College on the opening day of the gameplay portion. |

Mateo Dominguez OF / OF / Highland High, CA / 2027Dominguez put up consistently strong at-bats over the entirety of the weekend during gameplay, including a rocket double to open his weekend before adding another knock over the two games and drawing a pair of walks to reach base a total of four times in six plate appearances. Dominguez was on the barrel all during BP with a max 93 MPH EV and averaging just under 89 MPH over all balls in play. He ran a sound 7.0 60 and threw in the upper 70s to give himself a potential CF/LF defensive profile. |
DESIGNATED HITTER:

Charles Kylis C / 3B / Cornerstone Christian School, CA / 2028Kylis may have had the single most consistent one-day performance of the event by going five for five on the opening day of gameplay with five singles at Fullerton High School. He would finish up five for seven over two games. He added an intriguing workout with 96.6 MPH max EV during batting practice and a 77 MPH catcher velocity and low 2.1 pop times. |
UTILITY:

Carlos Landeros SS / RHP / Mater Dei, CA / 2029Landeros had a strong case for the First Team spot at Utility on the back of a strong three innings of pitching with two strikeouts while allowing just five baserunners, two via a walk and the other three on singles. Then add in a strong offensive showing, including a grand slam at Fullerton High School as part of a multiple-hit weekend. All wrapped up with a 99.1 MPH max EV and a 95+ MPH avg EV during batting practice and a 7.03 60 with an upper 70s INF arm velocity. |
PITCHERS:

Grady Klovstad SS / RHP / Mater Dei, CA / 2029Klovstad put together a solid workout as a position player and showed flashes of his two-way potential, but it was his three innings of work on Sunday that put him on the Second Team as a right-handed pitcher. Running his FB up to the 87 MPH range that was backed up by a strong SLD/CHG combination, he would strike out two hitters with just three baserunners allowed, all coming via a hit and walking none. |

Dario Navarro 1B / LHP / Pacifica High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 287 / POS: 18
Navarro is another two-way product who hails from Pacifica High School, but attended the California State Games to pitch. He toed the rubber at Fullerton High School for three innings of work, and in that time put up quality work. With his FB running into the mid-80s and pairing it with a sweeping breaking ball and sound CHG, Navarro had five strikeouts while allowing just four total baserunners, three via hit and one walk. |

Jackson Gray RHP / 2B / Del Oro High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 151 / POS: 29
Gray was a member of Team West Coast at the Senior Future Games just about 10 days before the State Games and then made the trip to Fullerton to throw three more innings, and those innings were impressive. Gray ran the FB up to 85 MPH over his outing, which came with four strikeouts and five baserunners allowed, four via a hit and one via a walk. |
