Positional Profile: SS/RHP Young athlete with long lean frame with lots to pack in as he matures. Sureness in the field is already present with bat speed and exit velocity metrics to back it up. Will only get better as he grows into his frame.
Body: 6-3, 167-pounds. Long lean frame, with lots to add onto.
Hit: RHH. Wide stance with square even base. Hands above shoulder with bat tilted slightly behind head. Slight leg lift with extension creates wide base as hands push away from body. Creates some inward rotation, and turns tight into solid front side, bat path is neutral to slighlty upward. 68.3 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 78.8 mph. 316' max distance.
Arm: RH. Short takeback, with 3/4 slot. Shows adaptability and feel for different arm slots around the infield.
Defense: Presents glove early and movement shows sureness in the field. Feet move efficiently to get to ball with little to no wasted movement. Transfers are quick and effective. Creates nice angles to the ball.
ATH: 7.48 runner in the 60. 1.69 and 4.06 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
Vizual Edge: 73.42 Edge Score
First look at the impressive freshman for the Monarchs. Klovstad came on in relief and immediately caught the attention of onlookers. First it's the 6'2" sturdy frame which belies his age. Next comes his arsenal on the mound. During warmups he flashed all three pitches that project to be above average by the time he's a draft eligible senior. In the game he pounded the zone with a fastball that lived at 84-85mph and dipped as low as 82mph. He worked the pitch around the zone consistently mixing eye levels. The changeup looked sharp in warmups, and while he only threw it once in this outing, it was a strike low in the zone that started middle-middle before diving to the back foot of the right handed hitter. And while those two pitches were presently solid pitches that will gets whiffs, it was the slider that really stood out. He consistently started it at righties hips before seeing it dive over the plate for strikes, both looking and swinging. The frame and the arsenal are all very projectable, making Klovstad one of the better freshman pitchers in the Trinity League.
