Area Code Tryout - Arizona commit; Stout body type on average frame, catcher type build, bow-arrow type of backside arm and arm stroke, still appears to be searching for form from last summer in regard to velocity, was 85-87 in this look with higher velocities coming toward the end of the outing, CB 75 mph and SL 77, CHG 80-81, there is semblance of arm side movement that can play well off the breaking balls if better stuff and better control of the FB comes along.

vs Drake HS - Arizona commit; Strong stout build on average frame/body. Delivery/release/finish patterned after Craig Kimbrel, short circle on backside (he was a catcher when entering HS), presently building up to full strength, FB topped at 88-89 (once each) while sitting 85-87, mostly 84-85 mph in the second of his two innings. Truly didn't appear comfortable, even while warming to enter the game in the pen and then in game warm-up pitches. Frequently missed to arm side with running fastball that looked, if he could get to full extension, like it had the spin and action to bore in on RHH. Corrections often had the FB missing wide to the glove side. Slider flashed as usable with tilt and two plane action while also sometimes spinning in the zone. Also saw what looked to be a cutter (81.6 mph). There will be better days as he gets closer and closer to full health.

3/21/19

at Marin Catholic; Average athletic body type, still very young (Freshman); was the DH in this game and made his varsity debut on the mound later in the game. He's got a shot with the bat. Didn't get video of his first at-bat vs 2019 RHP Addison Berger but it was a solidly struck line drive into centerfield. Good timing at the plate, was routinely in each at-bat and the hands work, with good bat control and a direct path to the ball. Will develop more bat speed as he ages and physically matures but the timing is present. Was aggressive to first pitch fastballs in the zone. Battled off an 0-2 curveball and earned his way to 1st base by putting it in play. Saw him pitch late in the game, catcher type short arm action with hand coming near the ear, straight fastball was 78-81 mph. Young player to take note of and see how he comes along
