At Monterey: Sac State commit. Bollengier was behind the plate for Aptos last year, but they’re utilizing his athleticism more this year by allowing him to work in the middle of the field showing the range and speed to play at SS/OF during the game.  The high-waist, athletic frame shows good speed out of the box and the aggressive nature to be a base-stealer this season and beyond. That aggressive streak was on display during the game seeing him steal 2nd once while being thrown out on a bang-bang play a second time and allowing him to go 1st-3rd or score from 2nd with ease. At the dish, starts relaxed with hands high and wide elbows resting barrel on back shoulder before slowly loading into back hip with the hands scap loading well; the hands are quick and the barrel works on a direct path to the baseball having times where the top hand can take over a bit early leading to some steeper path. He used that aggressive nature to put pressure on the 2nd baseman which caused an error before hitting a lined shot right at the SS to finish the day. The arm strength is an asset defensively pushing to be a tick above average and can be an asset in the middle of the field.  Freeing up his athleticism should have Bollengier making use of his present tools.

CCS D2 Playoffs - Uncommitted. Medium framed catcher with a high waist flashed a good arm and solid defensive skills again. He had one caught stealing in the game (2.09 pop) and almost had a second when the ball came out of the glove of the SS on the tag (2.12 pop). The arm is compact and strong able to keep the ball on the bag. Behind the plate, Eichhorn had faith in Bollengier’s skills throwing breaking balls into the dirt and knowing he would block them. His receiving skills will need to be a focus as he sits high and that leads to times where he blocks the view of the umpire and also makes him have to work harder to get down for pitches in the dirt. It wasn’t a good day at the plate with a lot of weak contact on the ground. I’ve seen him be able to stay locked with the front shoulder and create more loft from the bat, but that wasn’t the case in the viewing.

At Santa Cruz - Uncommitted. Medium, quick-footed frame swinging from the left side. Was on base 3 times with a walk, HBP, and driving a ball past a diving 2nd baseman. Compact swing stays to the middle of the field with flat path through zone. Defensives skills were good with aggressive streak throwing out runners at 3rd, 2nd (2.13-2.22 Pop) with a back pick at 2nd to add. His receiving skills were also good with flashes of lateral agility.

Vs Monterey started behind the plate where he has athleticism and was 2.08-2.27 down to 2B in between innings. He also moved around the field playing SS and CF, having a bounce in his step out of the batter's box. Hitting from the left side with a low open stance, the bat has flashes of quickness with loft especially when he smoked a ball to RF during his third AB. I saw him a bit last year and the bat shows some flashes as the leadoff hitter for the Mariners.

@ NCTB Upperclass Tourney - Lean body and multiple position player, saw at 2nd base, centerfield, and at catcher. Good athlete, runs well, wide open stance, good range to the middle of the diamond, high quality footwork and a quick release, plays with athleticism, pop times in workout were competitive, offensively has lively hands and good hand speed, can work for a little better pre-pitch set so he can more consistently on time. Hustle type player can put pressure on defense with speed.
