2/16/19 - At 5-foot-10, 165-pounds there’s some physicality to his game that isn’t common with players in his class at that position. He’s strong through the shoulders down into the arms with some strength in the core and lower half. Setups quietly in a deep crouch and shows soft hands that he uses to frame well. Often beats the pitch to the spot without giving away location. Shows the ability to block and recover quickly and handles velocity with ease for a freshman. Bounces well on bunts in front of the plate. Arm strength is average presently with between inning pop-times in the 2.09 - 2.17 range. There were no in-game stolen base attempts. At the plate there’s a lot to like from the left-handed swing. Shows a very good understanding of the strike zone and doesn’t chase pitches outside of it. Starts with neutral hands at the shoulder and uses a toe tap stride to initiate the swing. Maintains his balance at landing of his stride while dropping hands into his launch position before shifting his weight to his front leg. Hands are quick through the zone and he shows feel for the barrel. Was clocked 4.63 home-to-first on a ball hit to the left side.
