NorCal Preseason All-State: 7.46 60yd, 81 INF, 84 EV
5-foot-11, 167-pounds, high waist and squared up shoulder has started adding good strength to frame with space to keep filling in. High hands/high back elbow stance with balance; load has some coil around back hip with hands working down, loading past the back shoulder. Upwards arc through the zone shows best swing when he has more barrel extension than lift on impact; swing is loose and easy and shows ability to be more aggressive on turns when needing it. Balls lifted through the middle/gaps of the field during BP with hard liners to the gaps (84 EV). Reacts well to the ball understanding hops and adjusting his feet to make plays; knows when to attack and cut the ball off keeping feet underneath him and glove out. Arm is compact with high hand through the slot; kept throws online regularly with flashes of more life (81 INF MPH). Skills to be a high in the order middle infielder at next level.

NCA Underclass ID - Long, medium frame with high waist and squared up shoulders; body is lean with space to keep adding strength. Athletic runner with good speed underway (7.45 60yd). Slightly opened, tall stance with high hands away from the body and high back elbow. Has some pre-pitch rhythm with wiggle gathering in forward step from strong hitting position; creates good stretch with hands pulling into back shoulder on stride. Barrel is quick, on plane working on slightly upwards path as he stays behind the baseball well with strong turns and contact out in front of the plate; loose wrists with ability to turn barrel through the zone (83 EV). Easy footwork with the ability to read hops and make adjustments using controlled feet and body; solid range to stick in the middle infield. Glove is soft and smooth staying underneath ball as he works through it; loose arm with mid-slot able to make the throws needed for position (78 MPH). Frame projects more growth and has solid tools on the diamond and at the plate.

CCS D2 Playoffs - Uncommitted. The high waisted, medium frame is very lean and projectable with athleticism and flashes of twitchy actions in the field and at the plate. He showed his athleticism in pre-game covering ground and the arm to play on the left-side of the diamond as he matures. He’s got quick feet in the middle of the field and the hips allow him to open up and extend his range. The glove flashed skills, but during the game had a routine play go right between his legs. At the plate he showed a compact stroke extending at-bats and being a strong leadoff option. In the first AB he fouled off 4 good pitches before getting jammed and grounding out to the pitcher. In his 3rd AB he got a breaking ball up in the zone and lined it past the 3rd baseman’s head. He then stole 2nd base on a bang-bang play before being thrown out at the plate. That play at the plate with the dustup afterwards was not a smart move or action and the type of thing you don’t like to see. Here’s hoping it was just a freshman mistake that he can learn and grow from. Will have to follow up during summer.

PBR N California Underclass Games - 5-foot-10, 145-pounds, lean well-proportioned body, athletically built young player. He’s a 2022 to know of in Northern California. Bat talent stood out in this viewing. Good balance, quiet and aggressive, lower half works, strong hands and good barrel control, short swing that produces solid contact that will get louder as he gets stronger. Made good barrel contact in both game at-bats, both times to the opposite field, again displaying the bat control he showed in BP. Trusts his hands and lets the ball travel. If he continues to add size and strength then he will develop gap to gap extra base power. Defensively he is smooth to the ball, plays low, showed soft hands and a quick transfer with good timing, clean footwork and a compact release with carry on his throws. Arm strength can tick up and will have to if he’s to stay on left side of infield.
