10/22/18 - SS Jashia Morrissey (Serra HS, CA), a Cal State Bakersfield recruit, was fun to watch for USA Prime as he showed off a slick glove to go along with a quick arm at shortstop. He hit a big triple in a first round upset, and shows signs of having gap to gap power in the future. The 6-foot, 175-pounders' twitchy glove-play and defensive prowess will likely have professional scouts tracking him closely this spring.

8/1/18 - Six-foot, 170-pound, lean, muscular, broad shoulders, proportional strength throughout his body. Morrissey is an uber-athletic, slick fielding middle infielder that play very well around the ball. Understands angles and hops and aggressively attacks the ball. Shows plus arm strength as his throws show life and carry along with accuracy across the diamond. Throws on the run well. Shows range to both sides and the footwork ability to circle around balls. At the plate he takes aggressive hacks from the left side. Shows a smooth load and remains balanced throughout the swing. Has the ability to use the entire field and has present power to the pull side. On the mound Morrissey really projects thanks in part to a plus changeup that works in the 72-73 mph range and makes his fastball play up. From a ¾ arm slot this fastball shows arm side run from a slightly cross body delivery. Generates downhill plane on all pitches with a fast, loose arm action with easy effort. Uses lower half and backside very well in driving into the target.

8/1/18 - (Pitching) Six-foot, 170-pounds, medium, strong, athletic frame with defined strength in lower half and through the shoulders and chest. Drop and drive delivery through to an online, athletic landing. Full circle in the back through to a ¾ arm slot. Arm is fast, loose, and easy with minimal effort. Fastball shows sinking action on a downhill plane showing the ability to spot it to all quadrants of the strike zone. Curveball shows late, sweeping break with 1/7 shape. Command is inconsistent with the curveball when he maintains fastball arm speed. Changeup is deceptive with sinking action to the armside and slight run. Morrissey is a hyper-athletic middle infielder who shows feel for pitching with a consistent arm slot and variable arm speed on three pitches which shows average to above-average command of.

6/1/18 - One of the most intriguing prospects at the event was Jashia Morrissey, a switch hitting shortstop with pop from the left side who happens to also show an advanced two-pitch mix with feel for a third. A 7.12 60 time can be deceiving as he shows a very quick first step with soft hands and very easy actions at shortstop. Very nimble footwork that would indicate his ability to stay at the position in the future. His throws were strong and online. Morrissey pounded hitters in with his fastball at 85-86, before unleashing a humpy curveball at 73-74 that resulted in weak contact showing a good understanding of pitching. Morrissey shows current gap-to-gap power with a consistent and balanced approach. Seems more comfortable from the left side.
