A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Body: 6-4, 195-pounds. Pro frame; broad shoulders, long limbs, strong hands, baseball athleticism. Plenty of room for growth and development. Hit: RHH. Wide setup in the box, athletic bend, powerful leg kick, significant rotation, one and two-hand finishes. Powerful batting practice; averaging 314 ft line drives and 321 ft fly balls - two home runs at 355ft and 344ft. Raw power display with more to come. Blast Motion scores 40/48/79. Highest graded rotation score at the State Games. Huge power predictor indicator and ability to catch up to higher velocity. Low plane score illuminates his raw swing overall and needs to stay consistent. Regardless, the elite Rotation score predicts a bright future. Power: 99 max exit velocity Arm: RH. INF - 85 mph. Medium arm swing, starting quarterback, present velocity and arm strength. Unclear where the arm projects the best at this time. Defense: Showed ability at both corner positions but lacky current next level ability with the glove and hands. Could turn out to be a very suitable first baseman if the power bat develops. Run: 7.78 runner in the 60.
Body: 6-4, 195-pounds. Pro frame; broad shoulders, long limbs, strong hands, baseball athleticism. Plenty of room for growth and development. Delivery: Over-the-head out of the windup, high and tight leg lift, athletic knee bend, good extension, fairly consistent pitch-to-pitch, falls hard to the first base side at times. Arm Action: RH. Medium arm swing, arm follows leg lift, room for more speed in the follow through. FB: T87, 84-86 mph. Fastball shows good spin in the 2300 range, lacking consistent command, works best down in the zone. CB: 72-75 mph. Flipped over curveballs for another breaking pitch look. Working linear and giving a slower offspeed pitch to compliment his slider and changeup. SL: 73-74 mph. Slider is his best breaking pitch; more velocity and more spin helping project this pitch at the next level. CH: 77-79 mph. Ideal velocity and spin differential from fastball. Garnered swings and misses, hard downward fade.

Preseason All-State. This is our first look at Manness in this type of setting. Tall, lean, frame with significant room to add weight and muscle. Long arms, legs and high waist. Shows a busy setup in the box and with his length there are a lot of moving parts to get barrel to contact, often squaring them up. Drops hands low in the slot at contact with good bat speed. Took a solid ground ball round making the routine plays demonstrating his athleticism. Arm tool is average at the moment but project above average or plus in the future. You can dream on the body and hope he makes consistent physical gains. If he continues to grow, could see a position change.
