9/16/18 - Uncommitted. Six-foot-4, 210-pounds, extra-large frame that is long, lean, with some strength throughout particularly in the lower half. Long limbs and large feet. Arm is quick-to-fast from a full path through to a ¾ slot and an "out-front" release point. Gains ground down the mound making fastball jump out of his hand and getting on hitters in a hurry. There's some effort in the delivery. Landing is inline before falling off to first base side after lower half clears. Generates downhill plane from his drop/drive delivery. Fastball is heavy and shows life and run to the arm side as it enters the zone. Touched 87 several times and lived comfortably at 85-86 mph. Slider is sharp and shows late breaking action 11/5 shape. Pitch falls off the table to righties. The pitch induced no contact with plenty of swing-and-miss attempts. Shepard threw one curveball at 69 mph that had 12/6 shape and gradual break. He did bust the pitch in on a righty for a called strike.
