Armijo is still working himself back from some tendinitis and is still rounding into form nicely. The lefty came out feeling a rush of adrenaline in this huge Gateway League matchup in Game One of a three game series. Armijo came out at 88-90 mph before settling in later at 86-87 mph. He flashed a changeup at 76-78 mph that faded away from righties and he used it as a jam pitch on lefties. However, it was his slider that was his best pitch on the day. It’s sharp with late biting action that he backfoots to righties and uses as an out pitch to lefties. Armijo finished with four strikeouts on the day despite being squeezed on several occasions that would have resulted in more strikeouts.
