Positional Profile: LHP/OF LHP with high whiff potential. Big mover down the mound and showcases very live arm. Starter upside, with high-end reliever stuff.
Body: 6-0, 201-pounds. Sturdy, developed build that displays strength throughout the frame, particularly in the lower half.
Delivery: Starts with hands at the upper chest before dropping to belt level to sync with the front leg. Utilizes a high leg kick and sinks heavily into the back knee, driving down the mound with significant length to the stride. Shows solid feel for blocking with the plant leg, though can occasionally get caught behind due to stride length. Lands slightly closed, but the hips work cleanly around the body. Delivery features an accelerated yet controlled tempo, showing consistency and repeatability.
Arm Action: LH. Shows length to the arm path, working behind the body before creating good depth soon after at foot strike. Features a quick, whip-like arm action that gets to a low 3/4 slot with a consistent release point. Finishes with some recoil after release.
FB: T94, 88-92 mph. Firm, high spin offering with velocity. Thrown to both sides and lives on the edges. Shows some arm-side run; displays confidence in zone as a front door offering to RHH. Generates whiffs with good life at the top of the zone. T2566, 2338 average rpm.
CB: 74-78 mph. Heavy breaking, 11-5 action with two-plane profile. Tunnels well off FB up, with ability to throw in zone. Used as chase pitch late in counts to both sides. T2643, 2520 average rpm.
CH: 78-78 mph. Heavy arm-side fade. Creates good separation off the FB; dies late as it reaches the plate. Effective for swing-and-miss away from RHH. Weak contact against both sides when down/below the zone. T1625, 1581 average rpm.

Mariano comes to Ohlone College from Vanden High School out of Fairfield, CA. The highly touted 27' attended his first Prep Baseball event and safe to say he opened a lot of eyes. The frame is solid at 6'0" 185lbs, athetlic body. Gonzalez is ranked the #55 overall player in country for the class of 2027 and ranked the #8 LHP in the land. Grip strength was 165.3 (R) & 148.9 (L). On the pitching side his FB was an event best at 90.4 MPH and sitting between 87.1-89.5 MPH, the spin on his FB was at 2444 RPM. The CB is nasty, 77.2-74.4 MPH with over 2800 RPM (2750 avg). His last pitch was the CH 72.1-75.5 MPH with a max spin of 1738 RPM. Very impressed with the southpaw. On the hitting side of things Mariano had a max EV of 98.4 MPH with an avg EV of 90.6 MPH. The two-way potential is there, but I see Gonzalez developing into a STUD on the bump. Expect to see a lot more of Mo on the summer circuit.
