Game Performance

Notes

Comments

7/07/21

Body: 6-2, 195-pounds. Sturdy, athletic frame with some present physicality. Room to add more mass.
Delivery: Controlled delivery with late effort as he unwinds down the mound. Rides the back hip well and has some visible effort.
Arm Action: LH. Quick, repeatable arm stroke that is fast out of the glove. Gets up and unwinds on time.
FB: T88, 86-88 mph. Fastball showed near equal ride and run with an average of 14.4 IVB and 13.8 horizontal movement. Located well to both sides.
SL: 78-80 mph. Tight slider that featured some horizontal sweep. Also featured some IVB which allowed for him to throw it firm.
CH: 81-82 mph. Above average offering both in terms of feel and metrics. Kills vertical break and has a quality velocity difference from FB.

Hit: LHH. Slightly open to start, some hand movement before launch triggered by a small leg  kick.  Quick, level barrel path with some pull side power. Kept the bat through the zone for an extended amount of time.
Power: 95.00 max exit velocity.
Arm: LH. INF - 80.00 mph. Short whippy arm in the IF with athleticism to throw on the run.
Defense: Above average footwork at 1B with clean transfer/throw skills and feel for the bag.
Run: 7.30 runner in the 60.

7/17/19

Negrete shows significant improvement from our last viewing. The uncommitted southpaw was efficient in his outing pounding the corners at 84-85 mph with the fastball before unleashing a late biting slider at 78 mph that kept hitters off balance just enough. Fastball showed some late run to the arm side. It’s a loose, easy arm with clean, repeatable mechanics. Negrete, who also plays water polo, has plenty of room for physical maturation of his 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. There’s way more in there for Negrete who should have a chance at meaningful innings for OLu next year.
