Area Code Underclass - Medium frame showing a strong and long lower half with leaner, wiry strength in upper half; can continue to strengthen without taking away from overall profile. Hands stay at the waist while he has a slight turn and pause at the peak of the delivery; arm has some longer actions in the back showing some length before getting to 3/4-release point. Average arm speed after gathering over rubber and finishing in athletic position; could continue to work on arm-speed and explosiveness of delivery. FB 79-83 MPH T84 generally straight with small arm-side actions, especially against LHH. CHG 71-74 MPH has above average actions with late arm-side sink showing above average depth off the fastball look; showed a lot of trust in the pitch and ability to regularly miss bats. Had an idea on how to pitch off the change up, going back-to-back with pitch and using it in any count to keep hitters guessing. CB 67-68 MPH with short 11/6-actions and spinner depth. Stuff wasn't the sharpest I saw during the weekend, but showed poise on the mound and didn't allow runners to advance bases while pitching quickly and challenging hitters in any count. Recorded a lot of ground ball outs over three innings pitched, scattering 4 hits and a walk while striking out 5. Only gave up a first inning run during his outing.

at USA PDP - Uncommitted. Lanky lean body with lots of projection left. Jered Weaver type of delivery and repertoire/approach to pitching. Absolutely carved up the three hitters he faced, fastball 84 mph, along with big curveball and slow change-up. Never seems to be in a hurry and understands how he's effective. Fun to watch despite the stuff not lighting up the gun.

at Boras Classic - Uncommitted; the 6-foot-2 170-pound right-hander looks a bit longer than that. He has the type of lanky and loping body actions that indicate he is still a long way from physical maturity. For such a young pitcher who is still growing into his body he showed very good feel for the ball and high level pitchability. He understands how to pitch to contact and how to keep his team in a game but mixing locations and utilizing his three pitch mix. The fastball wasn't blazing, up to 85 mph, cruising around 82-84 mph, with usability on both sides of the plate, and good sink on the arm side. His curveball is a big tumbler at 69-71 mph and if hitters give up on it too soon or commit to early they are in trouble due to the size and shape of the pitch. The arm action and cross-body stride are reminiscent of Jered Weaver, though not quite that far across his body.
