Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Inouye is a medium, full-wide frame, but plays with athleticism and showed the ability to work the barrel. The wide stance keeps the hands deep allowing the shoulders to work upwards through the ball with the barrel following creating easy lift as he peppered hard line drives deep gap-to-gap. The bat is quick into the zone and stays on plane through contact allowing him to use the physicality in the frame (88 EV) as he continually punished baseballs. In the OF, Inouye stayed inline very well with his bases allowing throws to continue firmly and showing good hand speed out front from a higher-3/4 release point (84 MPH). He finished the day on the hill where he pounded the down and away location consistently and showed two breaking balls used to keep hitters off the FB. All pitches came from a similar H-3/4 release showing his back hip through an average front knee (FB 79-80, CB 66-68, CUT 70-72). His ability to understand who he is and utilize his skills to their fullest was impressive as he showed consistent energy all afternoon.

Stout, thick and strong at 5-foot-9, 185-pounds with broad shoulders, maintained good body control throughout delivery. Slightly above average arm speed, repeated mechanics well and showed feel for the strike zone with three pitches. High 3/4 slot with a slight pause in short-ish backside arm action, which allows him to snyc his upper and lower half. Maintained good direction and got to good extension. Fair life on fastball that was consistently near 80 mph, if he has ability to locate in games it will play up due to his feel of a big 11/6 curveball with some late tumble action deep in the zone. Showed consistent feel of the curveball. Cutter is a slider-like pitch and adds another shape/velocity component for hitters to consider.

vs Redwood HS - Uncommitted, compact and stoutly put together at 5-foot-8, 185-pounds, viewing in first game of year vs Redwood HS, good motor, energy to play showed up in warm-ups, moves well laterally at 2nd base, good reads and range with instinctive first step, turns double play well, strength around the bag, flick arm action and can make throws from different angles, plays confidently, in the box has a hitterish feel, quick trigger and short to the ball, showed ability to drive mistakes but also displayed bat control in hit-run situations (going up to FB chest-high to foul it off), when gets pitch to hit he lets swing go with aggressiveness, hands work inside the ball and gets barrel on time with body behind the ball, no hook in the stroke. Team seems to have a certain expectation when he's at the plate. Fun one to watch and he's a player.
