Navy recruit. Jorgenson ran up against a deep, talented GBG Marucci lineup, and while the end result might not have shown it, he showcased a lot to like in his outing. The tall right-hander received multiple swings and misses with his 80-83 fastball that featured some sinking action, and appeared to jump out of his sleeve and get on the plate in a hurry. An uncomfortable look, his shorter arm action leads to a “slingy”, ¾ slot, and he countered the fastball with a sweeping slider at 73-74 that exhibited tilt when thrown at its best. His fastball flattened out at times, especially later on in the performance, but the whip that the arm displays and the deception of the slot provide plenty of promise for the future. Athletic on the mound with the ability to throw consistent strikes, Jorgenson has a chance to see a velocity jump in the near future, and could blossom into one of the better “pop up” guys down the line.
