Summer 2020: For the 5-foot-11, 195 pound Novitske it all starts with his gritty makeup. His mental toughness gives him the edge in any situation, never overmatched, regardless of the competition. Tool-wise, he’s a slightly above average runner with good instincts and aggressiveness. He has fringy arm strength, not enough for shortstop, but plenty for second base which he’s best suited in pro ball. In the batter’s box he will show some opposite field pop, and his power has improved since last summer in the Northwoods League, but his top offensive skill is simply his ability to get on-base. He’s a constant threat to make a difference in the game at the plate, even hitting behind runners when the situation dictates. More of a very good college baseball player than top prospect, Novitske does all the little things and ultimately makes his team and those around him better. He currently carries a .298/400/.395 slash for Fond Du Lac this summer after batting .242 in 15 games for the Ducks this past spring.
