Rivas looks the part of a power 4 middle infield commit. At 6’0, 175, he already shows present physicality with room to continue adding strength as he matures. Defensively, the actions at shortstop are polished and under control, and the arm strength plays with plenty of carry across the diamond, giving him a strong chance to stick on the left side long term. At the plate, he consistently puts together quality at-bats and shows a disciplined approach, rarely expanding the zone. That was on full display in a 9-pitch battle that he won by lining a ball into left field, helping ignite a 6-run inning. He followed it up later with a line drive driven deep into the left-center gap for an easy double. Rivas moves well around the field, showing the kind of athleticism and instincts you want from a true up-the-middle profile. Currently slashing .404/.426/.625 through 14 games and 55 plate appearances.
