Physical: 5-11, 180 pounds; Proportional, average build. 7.30 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Short take back with the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a moderate swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 92.00 MPH via Trackman. Quality high school swing, high contact, some oppo ability. . Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while staying low during receiving. Hands work through the ball while standing up during transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. 1.98-2.04 pop times. C - 80.00 MPH.
6/22/20
Body: 5’10 165lbs; Athletic, Room to fill out
Hit: Balanced, athletic set up in the box with a smaller leg kick and slight hand hitch. Hands slot in nicely and work short to the ball while staying on plane after contact. Engages rear hip/glute well and is able to create some momentum moving into foot plant.
Power: Average currently, 88 MPH Exit Velocity
Arm: 77 MPH Catcher Velocity
Defense: Showed maturity behind the plate performing well in all aspects of his defensive workout. A strong arm (77 MPH) coupled with clean receiving/transfer skills allowed him to make quality throw downs with ease. Also had solid block and recover abilities fielding both balls in dirt and bunts laterally to both sides.
Run: 7.51
Pitching:
Delivery: Simple drop step delivery with a high leg lift. Has the ability to maintain body control at its peak which sets hip up to begin moving down the mound. Engages glute and holds tension in the back hip well. Rotates nicely around a firm front hip. Added mass will increase velocity. Arm Action: Free and easy arm with what seems like very little tension. Arm works in sync with the body and gets up and on time at foot strike. Matches plane of rotation with hips and shoulders really well making for a solid deceleration pattern.
FB: 81-83; 1:00 Tilt creates ride up in zone
CH: 74-76; Solid movement separation from FB
SL: 68-69; Pure Sidespin, goes well with FB
9/14/19
Uncommitted 5-foot-10 150 pounds, long, lean, wiry body with some twitchiness. He recorded a laser time 60-yard dash of 7.49 seconds. Then went to the hitting wheel where he recorded an exit velo of 74 MPH. Flashed a more pull approach on the day with a feel for the opposite field in the game. The strength isn’t there yet, but he is a freshman and that should come. Did flash quick bat speed and hands. He recorded a pop-time ranging 2.18-2.20. He sets up in a deep crouch, soft footwork and clean exchanges. Did do a nice job handling pitcher in the game portion.. Young player with plenty of room to grow and will be a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.
7/23/19
Five-foot-9, 150-pounds, long, lean, wiry body with some twitchy strength. Large feet and hands with long limbs would indicate a lot of physical growth remains. Clocked a 7.57 60-yard dash to open the showcase before registering a 76 mph exit velocity. During the on-field hitting portion he showed good feel for the barrel along with the ability to drive balls the other way. There’s an obvious lack of strength common with any incoming freshman, but there’s some bat speed along with quick-to-fast hands. Barrel lags a bit because of the lack of present strength. Defensively he sets up in a deep crouch and shows nimble footwork and clean transitions. Handled pitchers well during the bullpen sessions, framing and blocking were on point. Very high follow prospect in his class.
