Preseason All-State. This is our third look at Sidebotham in this type of setting. His projectable frame is continuing to grow proportionally each viewing gaining size and strength while maintaining his athleticism. Took and all fields approach during his BP round. At times got over rotational, but self corrected and made the adjustment quickly to get back on track. Had a quality ground ball round showing the ability to make the routine play and make strong accurate throws to first base. With clean arm action, athleticism coupled with his growing frame, we could potentially see him at a corner position or the mound.
9/23/18 - Rising Stars Showcase - Five-foot-9, 150-pounds, medium/large frame with noticeable strength in the lower half. Sloped-to-squared shoulders with wiry strength in the upper half. Long limbs with large feet. At the plate Sidebotham's setup is balanced with a smooth load and a short stride. Incorporates the lower half well while finishing in a balanced position. He shows quick-to-fast hands and the ability to get the barrel on the ball no matter the pitch's location. Keeps hands close to chest/torso before exploding them into the ball. Has some present pull side pop that projects to over-the-fence power as he matures physically. Defensively he shows an excellent pre-pitch routine with athletic actions. Shows fluid footwork with range to both sides while playing through balls in front. Hands are soft with cean exchanges. Has plenty of arm strength to make throws from multiple angles with some life and carry. Sidebotham has shown considerable improvement since we saw him at SoCal Underclass Trials.
