7/11/19

Area Code Tryout - Uncommitted; strong athletic build, built well for the game and the middle of the diamond; tryout at 3rd base, displayed easy release with ball exiting hand well, had some sinking action approaching 1B which is why we've seen him best at 2nd base though he has enough arm to play a competent SS, offensively he frequently displays an aggressive nature and above average bat speed which is what he displayed during this BP session. Quality player with tools for college baseball.

3/26/19

Uncommitted as of this report; He's a strong and well-proportioned infielder with a well-rounded set of tools and skills. Offensively he showed a few noticeable things in this viewing (hit in the 3-spot, with Carter leading off) in particular a very disciplined approach, with good takes, no chases, saw and spit on some good breaking balls that were either not good pitches to offer at in the count he was in or were just out of the zone and balls. He does know what he's looking for early in counts and that's fastballs he can drive as he jumped on a first pitch fastball in one at-bat and recognized a mistake up in the zone in another at-bat. He did lose control of the barrel at contact on a couple of pitches that ended up going in the air to the right side. Timing is good, strength and bat speed are good, but needs to keep above the ball better and keep the barrel on plane. Worked two walks and then in battle mode late in the game on a 2-strike count punched a ball away through the right side, which was what he was looking to do in that count. Defensively he has a good accurate arm that would play well at 3rd base. Seems to see the ball well off the bat but did lay back on a ball and let the last hop get him. Does everything pretty calm and quiet in the field. Good player in the 2020 class in the region.

10/29/18

Fall tournament - Another good showing, good physical strength that regularly plays on offense and defense, no-nonsense approach to the game, consistently hits ball hard w/compact stroke, arm plays on left side, efficient player, as regularly as we've seen the hit tool show up it's an indication that it's very much for real.

8/25/18

PBR N CA Underclass Games - 6-foot-0, 170-pounds, strong athletic build with plenty of physical projectability, well-proportioned body. Strong player with good baseball tools. Hitterish presence in the box, balanced swing with on-time load, stays behind ball, gets power from lower body, drives back hip well, best when staying middle of the field and linear, strong hands. Potential to be middle of line-up contributor with gap to gap pop. Defensively showed a good arm and ability to throw from multiple arm angles, footwork is a bit mechanical in order to set-up to make throws, footspeed and lateral range could push him to 3rd base where his arm and good hands and bat potential would all fit. Plays with good energy and has aggressive nature on the field.

6/12/18

PBR N CA Underclass Trials - Uncommitted. Physical description based on last report holds up. One of more talented 2020 infielders in Northern California. Compact swing with good hand discipline and path to and through contact. Aggressive finish through the ball allows some power projection as he physically matures. Gets to ball easily with good timing of lower half and firing of hands. Hips work well and ball leaves bat with noticeable velocity. Fairly pull oriented but the stroke and lower body should allow for him to develop into an all-field hitter. Defensively showed arm strength that is usable on the left side particularly if the release is just a bit quicker. Throws did have carry. Plays with calm pace. Has some foot speed that should translate to more agility and light feet in the infield.

6/03/18

6/1 - 6/3/18 - BAWS 2018 - Good frame, room to mature on 6-foot-0 170-body, well proportioned. Even stance with foot lift for timing; keeps hands even at chest before slightly lowering hands on load. Quick, loose wrists with compact stroke and ability to drive into pull gap for extra bases. Quick decisions and fluids movements in INF showing short compact arm; flashes of average in arm with better usage at 2B. Shorter stride down the line.

3/08/18

Athletic frame built for shortstop. Medium 6-foot-0 170-pound build but strong, young, explosive body that will continue to grow into his frame. Strong core area with minimal wasted movement when moving laterally at shortstop. Effortless transfer with a quick release; ball accelerates across the diamond with good carry. Constantly evolves with the game, positioning himself according to the situation, pitch, and the hitter. Confident presence at the plate in any count. High contact, simple, up the middle approach that doesn’t require much adjustment for a two-strike count. Very loyal to his approach, with bat control versatility for the 2-hole in a line-up.
