at De La Salle - Uncommitted; Didn't have the box score results (0-for-3, 2 K) but his first AB vs Harrison was long and tenacious and he fouled off multiple fastballs, displaying good timing and a direct hand path. He later got caught guessing slider in a 2-strike count and took a heater down the middle but he's young and clearly not intimated. Showed off what can be graded as a present day average arm from CF and nearly threw out a runner at the plate. To the eyes of those of us in the stands, he got the runner, but the ump disagreed. Third AB ended with well struck F8 on an 87 mph fastball

NorCal Preseason All-State: King was a guy that started to catch my attention this summer where he showed off projectable repertoire on the hill and his showing during the event pushes him to a strong two-way player. At the plate the high back elbow stance allows him to stay behind the ball and allow the quick bat to work through good sequencing of the body; it’s a compact swing that has growing feel for the barrel as the worked the pull gap with what would be easy extra-base hits (86 EV). In the OF, the loose arm works from more of a mid-3/4 slot with length out of the glove showing fluidity in it and strong direction; he’s a good athlete right now and as he matures could be even better. King has the space for some big jumps over the next few years and adds his name to a deep group of OF and two-way guys in the 2022 class.

Summer Scouting - Uncommitted; King finished the game going three scoreless innings and shows the projectable build and stuff to be a frot of the line starter in a few years. Medium frame, rolled shoulders with some strength and projection in the proportional build. Full, overhead motion with high front knee; allows his long, loose arm to work in time before finishing over stiff front leg. Attacked hitters using three-pitch sequence. FB 80-82 T 83 showed angled on both sides of the plate as he worked the bottom half of the zone all day. CB 67-73 with 12/6 shape from overhand release; pitch flashed feel and through the zone actions with the ability to speed up/slow down as needed. CHG 75-76 holding a FB look with late arm side run and bottom getting under barrels and flashing as an above average pitch. At the plate showed a balanced, high hands setup with slight lean over the plate; the bat can get over-rotational and around the ball with good quickness in the swing.
