Wyatt McElree, Redwood High (CA), 2027 Positional Profile: RHP/SS RHP with starter profile. Great shapes on all offerings with real feel for the strike zone. Body: 6-2, 168-pounds. Lean, athletic frame with room to fill out. Dynamic mover. Delivery: Works exclusively from the stretch, starting with hands set at the upper chest with minimal movement before syncing with the front leg. Employs a medium-high leg kick and sinks slightly into the back knee before leading down the mound with the front leg, showing solid length to the stride. Displays good feel for blocking with the plant leg and maintains a smooth, controlled tempo throughout the delivery. Arm Action: RH. The two-way SS from Visalia opened some eyes in front of the Prep Baseball staff, McElree had an event best infield velocity of 82 MPH, with a quick transfer on ground balls. If he wants to be a SS at the next level he is going to need to improve his overall quickness and speed. The footwork is good and he uses the one hand very well when going to attack the baseball. Max EV on the day was 91.8 MPH with an avg of 81.1 MPH, his long frame will give him a shot to have a lot of power potential. Where McElree really caught my eye was when he hopped on the mound to throw, it was a very simple/effortless motion. The ball comes out of the hand hot and his mechanics are very clean. Max velo of the day was 87 MPH with an avg FB velocity of 84.4, avg spin rate of 2301 RPM. The CB is nasty, avg velo of 71.1 MPH sharp bite with avg spin rate of 2642 RPM. CH plays at 74 MPH and has an avg spin rate of 2291 RPM, tons of fade. Excited to see McElree have another huge year for Redwood High School.
