Prieto led the Broncos in offense today as he went 3-4 at the plate but it just wasn’t enough to get them the win. In his first at bat Prieto laced a groundball through the 5-6 hole, the following AB he hit a single into CF that he did a great job of staying back on and letting his hands work. Preito’s last at bat he got to show off his speed by beating out an infield chopper, the kid can really run down the line. He’s also a threat on the basepaths, he’s got a very high IQ and just knows how to play the game. The pregame BP was above average to where it was a lot of swinging with feel. Prieto knows who he is as a hitter, which makes his BP fun to watch, spraying the ball all over the field and then mixing in some pull side power. On the defensive side, Prieto has a shot to stay at shortstop if he cleans up his footwork, because he’s got a hose from the left side of the infield. Prieto also pitches for Clovis North, having been seen up to 91 MPH in previous outings. Prieto is the prototypical coach's kid who grew up around a lot of high quality baseball, he’s a leader for the Broncos and has been on varsity since his freshman year, no surprise he tearing the cover off the ball this year.

Physical: 6-2, 185-pounds; 4.06 30-yard, 24.9” max jump height; Lean strength throughout well-proportioned athletic build.
Offensively: RH. EV max – 91.4 mph, hand speed max – 23.1 mph, bat speed max – 72.5 mph; Slightly open, back knee pinched, hits out of slight crouch, gets to a deep load, early quick bat waggle over shoulder, small quick rhythmic movements in box pre-pitch, small stride, quiet head through aggressive stroke which stays consistently on-plane, drives back side through contact as back foot releases from ground, flashes the bat speed to develop gap type power and a confident demeanor with aggressive intent.
Defensively: SS – 84 mph; Hops into ready position, light feet, plays low to and through ball, focused intent with confidence in glove skills, sees ball into glove, gets rid of ball with quick release and a fast arm, presents as capable of playing any of the three INF spots.

Positional Profile: 2B/OF

Physical: 6-0, 170 pounds; Athletic, proportional build. 7.32 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet shoulder width apart; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Loads straight back with a heel lift for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a two handed finish.  More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 93 MPH via Trackman. Set-up and stroke resemble Evan Longoria type swing.

Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while playing low to the ground. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Short take back from a high 3/4 arm slot. INF - 72 MPH. Smooth actions, nice wide base, plays easy. Did not participate at the OF position.
