Maloney profiles as a projectable right-hander, standing 6-foot-4, 177 pounds with a frame that has considerable room to add strength down the road. There is a lot to like about the delivery, as he repeats it well with lengthy levers, keeps a strong front side, and stays closed until front-foot strike before working downhill from a high three-quarters slot with a longer, efficient arm path. The results matched the look, as he didn't allow a hit over five batters faced. He issued just one walk, and kept hitters to soft contact throughout while picking up a strikeout on the curveball. The fastball did plenty of work in the 86-89 mph range, touching 91.4, and the pitch plays up with 14.1 average vertical break and quality ride through the zone. His curveball checked in at 73-74 mph (2,371 average rpm) with -5.2 average vertical break and -10.6 average horizontal movement, while the slider offered a tighter, later shape at 74-78 mph (2,397 average rpm) with -1.3 average vertical break and -8.4 average horizontal movement. Between the projection, the clean mechanics, and a three-pitch mix that already misses bats, Maloney is an arm worth tracking throughout the summer.

Positional Profile: RHP A four-pitch arm with strong hip-shoulder separation and a deceptive delivery.
Body: 6-4, 177-pounds.
Delivery: Traditional wind up delivery stance, with the glove starting at the face then moving downward. Medium leg lift towards the chest, staying postured up throughout the delivery. Drives into the rear leg throughout the delivery while very postured up, showing strong hip-shoulder separation. Shows some deception with the arm action.
Arm Action: RH. Full-circle arm backpath, very progressive wind up. Throws from a 3/4 release point, staying in the same slot with different pitches, showing strong feel for each pitch.
FB: Firm, staying up in the zone with a lot of spin.
CB: Slight downward action.
SL: Strong downward break with strong glove-side movement.
CH: Fades arm side, a great deceptive look off the fastball.

Positional Profile: RHP/SS Repeatable mechanics with a strong 3-pitch mix. Has feel for all pitches in the zone.
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Tall and lengthy frame.
Delivery: Tall and slower delivery. Stays smooth until front foot strike. Once the front foot strikes he is explosive through the catcher. Stays tall and rides the back side well.
Arm Action: RH. Slower arm action. Lags behind until the front foot lands and his arm is up in a powerful position. Release is straight over the top.
FB: T88, 86-87 mph. Heavy fastball with feel for it in the zone. Gets on hitters quick. T2080, 1964 average rpm.
CB: 71-73 mph. Bigger CB with 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock profile. T2111, 2050 average rpm.
CH: 80-81 mph. CH has both strong fade and depth. Tunnels with the fastball. T1980, 1763 average rpm.

Positional Profile: RHP/SS Starter profile with projectable, high-upside stuff and room for growth.
Body: 6-1, 165-pounds. Lanky build with additional fill and strength projection still to come.
Delivery: Stiff movements with a medium leg kick, extending the front leg as he drives off the rubber.
Arm Action: RH. Full, smooth arm circle working from an over-the-top release.
FB: T87, 84-86 mph. Shows late life through the zone with four-seam action, able to work all four quadrants effectively. T2274, 2100 average rpm.
CB: 71-73 mph. Slurve with late, sweeping action following a pronounced vertical break. T2217, 2083 average rpm.
