2-25-18
6-foot-3, 220-pound RHP/1B. Drop and drive delivery, utilizes lower half very well and creates angle and tilt down in the zone, repeatable delivery. Directionally in line, motion is smooth with easy effort. Ball jumps out of his hand and gets on the hitter quick, athletic finish. Long arm action, quick arm speed out front with an over the top slot. Fastball is live, flashed hard sink when down in the zone, sat 87-88 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, breaks late with tight spin. 73-79 mph. Slider, similar curveball shape, fluid arm speed, ranged 74-77 mph.
8-5-17
6-foot-3, 215-pound right hand hitting RHP/1B. At the plate he has a balanced simple set up. He uses a slow load to his back side and a short stride to get his weight coming forward. Hips and hands fire through the zone and produce great pull side power. Exit velocity was 92 MPH and he hit several balls hard off the wall in the left center gap during the live round. In the field he is solid at first base. He moves well on balls in the hole and shows good feet while turning a double play. Arm velocity was 82 MPH across the diamond. On the mound he is an imposing presence. Projectable size and arm was on display at the TPG. His motion is mechanically sound with no wasted movements. He gets balanced and then drives hard to the plate. Burke worked two very quick innings at the TPG collecting 4 K’s along the way. Lower half lands inline with the plate and he stays square through delivery. Arm is quick and over the top. Fastball was 89 MPH and he could put it anywhere in the zone. Command was on point. He added a 71 MPH curve with tight rotation and sharp 11/5 break.
8-6-16
6-foot-2, 205 pounds. Very simple and clean delivery with poise on the mound. Big presence for his age. Motion lulls you to sleep then brings a fastball at 80-82 mph touching 83 from an over the top arm slot. Arm is short on backside, hides it well, then it's on you. Lands inline to the plate then falls off to 1B. Curve had late 11/5 tilt at 68 mph. Will be a high pitching prospect in our state. At the plate had a good weekend. Stands slightly open and tall. Loads hands back with short stride. Could gain a little more separation. Bottom hand finish. Gap to gap power. Registered a 80 mph exit velocity off a tee. At 3B has good feet for big kid. Arm velo was 72 mph across diamond from quick high 3/4 arm slot. Got behind the dish to catch and showcased a 1.9 pop-time off a coach. Ran a 8 flat laser timed 60.
