Mercer Commit. 6-foot-7, 235 pounds. His last regular season start really couldn’t have been better, as he went 5 â…” INN of 2 run baseball against the best FB hitting team I’ve seen all spring. If you don’t believe me, look at the top 5 bats in Pope’s lineup on Synergy vs 86+ mph FB’s. The numbers are video game like. This was one of the best looks you could get on Dunford all year, and he absolutely shoved. PBR Georgia has been all in on Dunford since 2021 Future Games, and we told you what type of draft prospect he would be last fall in Picks 2 Click. He’s taken another big jump this spring in the velocity department, going from sitting 89-92 to a violent 91-94 with his SNK. The pitch is heavier than a bowling ball with late run that saws the hands of good RHH’s, reaching 96 mph in Cary this spring. But even more impressive is his ability to throw strikes to both edges with his heater, which will allow it to play to the maximum potential in the future. Dunford is built like a D1 Power Forward and moves like one, with so much room to add physical strength. To me it’s very easy to imagine him at 260-265 lbs, retaining all of his current athleticism and his velocity going to the moon right along with it. As I’ve said in the past, pitchers 6’7 and taller typically have issues repeating the delivery, but most pitchers at this height have nowhere near Dunford’s athleticism. He led the team in AVG, OBP, and has 9 stolen bases! This is so FAR from your typical 6’7 pitcher its not even funny, he is a simply freak athlete. Which is why it's no surprise his SL shape and life are dramatically better than last summer. The pitch has gone from more of a sweeper with earlier break that hitters could recognize to a downer that stays on SNK plane forever and snaps off the table flashing 2 plane depth. It tunnels well with his heater and will allow him to get many more in zone takes on the pitch, as he can throw it quite consistently for strikes to either edge. This is a true starter who expends very little effort to throw hard due to his frame, strength, and well connected arm path. Still grabbing multiple 93 in the 6th INN was a great example of that. Equally as impressive was his deceptive CH in the 80-82 range that showed heaviness to the glove side, and flashed a nasty fade+depth combo to the arm side (even threw 1 to RHH!). This is one of the best values in the southeast for the ‘23 draft, and this is not the last time I’ll be writing about him before July.

Uncommitted. 6-foot-7, 235-pound right-handed two-way prospect, extra large frame that he has done a great job of adding to, physically impressive. Offensively, hit out of the four hole for Houston County. Short and quick to the zone, mostly level through, keeps it simple. Big power potential in swing. Launched a two-run line drive home run in his first at-bat of the tournament, 101 exit velocity. On the mound, has the makings of a future power arm. Works from a ¾ slot, inconsistent with finish, at-times will have recoil, others times has a high follow through with a crossing over. Fastball sat 82-85, touched 86, plenty more in the tank. Did not need to use offspeed often. Curveball, 86-72, changeup 76.

6-foot-6, 195-pound right-handed hitting corner infielder, extra large frame, strength throughout, going to be a physically imposing and a powerful force. Keeps it simple and fundamental pre-pitch, balanced setup, short load back coupled with a short stride. Barrel works mostly level through the zone, creating hard line drive contact. As he matures, and gets a better feel for the barrel with added loft, will elevate and drive the ball.

6-foot-5, 185-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and third baseman, physically advanced for age, will continue to add mass to frame resulting in more power. Offensively, balanced setup, short quick stride, hands drop and load back, barrel flattens out. Uses his long levers well to be short to the ball, creating hard contact. Still coming into his own, with added loft has a chance to be a serious power threat.

No. 22 SS/RHP Andrew Dunford (Houston County) is a physical specimen for his age at 6-foot-5, 185-pounds. He uses his long levers well to be short to the ball at the plate, creating hard contact. Still coming into his own, Dunford has a chance, with added loft to swing, to be a serious power threat.
8/29/19
6-foot-5 OF/RHP with impressive athletic ability. Runs well and has good body control, especially for frame. Will continue to add strength which only help profile.
