4/25/23

South Carolina Commit. 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. As our No. 28 player nationally in the 2025 class, this is a sure fire day 1 draft prospect for us when the time comes. The most exciting part? He’s only at the tip of the iceberg physically and the athleticism continues to tick up. Eli has always had rare hand-eye and a special feel to hit. But in the past year, his swing has continued to develop and become not only much more well sequenced, but more efficient and effortless. This is a swing that's going to play against the toughest of arms for the long term. With more simplified negative move and a more gradual coil, his forward move has become much more timed up and under control. Controlled violence is the name of the game, and what you’ll see in the swing below is beyond textbook. With Pitts being able to focus on being a full time CF now, his ++ speed is going to be fully unleashed and he’s going to save a ridiculous amount of runs at a premium position. Cool, calm, and collected with ice water running through his veins, Pitts has the mannerisms of a pro. He never gets too high or too low on the field, and this is the type of temperament needed to handle the difficult grind of an SEC/MILB schedule. It was awesome to see his debut as a Panther, and so impressive he was able to get a big time barrel in his 1st live AB in over a month. With Pitts fitting in perfectly to the middle of Parkview’s lineup, we couldn’t be more excited about Parkview’s lineup for the years to come.

3/11/23

South Carolina Commit. 6-foot, 185 pounds. Every look I get on Pitts, he does something rare. It could be an acrobatic catch, hitting HR’s on pitches that would've hit him, or a wild steal and slide. On this night it was a textbook back knee adjustment on a low ball that had to have been at least 95 EV. Pitts rotational acceleration is one of the most special things about him as a hitter. But what's even more unique is how easy and often he barrels the inside seam for perfect backspin. This can only happen with an extremely short, knob led path that stays in the zone for an extended time. Hitting the inside seam creates the highest amount of backspin for the perfect trajectory of lift, which turns outs into doubles, and deep fly outs into HR’s. Pitts not only uses core strength but unbelievable wrist strength to make a dynamic turn in an instant. Quick twitch fibers and tracking ability allow him to react to big time velocity. He competed well vs one of the best arms in the 2023 class, just missing a FB that he was right on. This is as real as it gets as a prospect.
