6/14/12 Ventrella is a 6-foot, 180-pound left-handed pitcher who works from the stretch. Ventrella throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and features a 78-80 mph fastball showing solid feel for the pitch. Ventrella’s off-speed pitches consist of a 63-64 mph curveball and a 70 mph changeup that flashed occasional sink.
2/19/12 Ventrella is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound two-way player who impressed with his easy left-handed swing. He has a balanced setup with a smooth load and short stride to the baseball. Ventrella is able to generate some whip through the zone, resulting in some pop to his swing. On the mound, Ventrella works out of the stretch, and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has three pitches: a 77-78 mph fastball, a 60-69 mph curveball, and a 69-76 mph changeup.
Ventrella is a two-way player who displayed a good feel for all three pitches on the mound. With his over the top arm angle, Ventrella is able to pound the zone with his 76-77 mph fastball. His curveball showed some depth, while his demonstrated slight fade down in the zone. Offensively, Ventrella is a left-handed hitter who exhibited a clean, easy swing.
