8/2/14 - Huffman is a 6-foot-2, 160-pound lanky right-handed pitcher with extremely long levers. His hands are large as well, and with his skinny frame he projects to throw harder down the road as he naturally adds weight. Huffman worked at 86-88 mph with his fastball on day one and recorded a quick one-two-three inning. On day two he worked more in the 84-86 mph range, but still touched 87-88 a few times. He also throws a 72-73 mph curveball with depth. Mechanically, Huffman’s arm action is short and clean, but he does open up towards the first base side with his lower half early. He’s a high follow arm, who could see draft interest in two years if his velocity spikes like his arm action and frame suggests.
1.19.14 - High-level right-handed pitching prospect. Highly projectable, wiry 6-foot-2, 160-pound frame, long legs and arms, plenty of room to physically develop. Arm works quickly and cleanly with little effort, high-3/4 slot, short arm action, athletic delivery, repeats well. Throws three pitches with confidence and for strikes. Fastball sat 85-86 mph, all strikes, with late life; more velocity to come as he physically develops. Curveball is advanced pitch; 71-73 mph with sharp, late 12/6 bite; throws pitch with conviction, commands pitch. Throws changeup in 73-75 range with similar arm action of fastball, keeps pitch knees and below. As Huffman grows into frame and physically develops, he has potential to become high-level pitching prospect in Midwest.
10-1-2018:Strong built righty at six-foot-two, 190 pounds. High three-quarter slot, worked downhill during his first inning. Off balance and floated his second inning pitched; opened his lower half early and landed open. Throws with effort and a slight head snap. Sat 90 mph with his fastball, touching 92. Some cut at times, but mostly straight other than some down angle early in the game. Most misses were down in the zone. Went inside effectively, especially during his first inning pitched. Could not find the feel for his off speed on this look. Slider lacked bite at 78 mph and changeup was pushed to the plate between innings. (Seifert)
