Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-0, 158.3-pounds. Lean build, high waisted, room for additional strength.
Delivery: Starts closed off with lead leg closer to third, works with some pace into a higher leg-lift, stride works in-line with a drop/drive lower-half.
Arm Action: RH. Clean, loose arm, full reach in the back into a higher 3/4 slot.
FB: T90, 88-90 mph. Plays with life and some finish through the zone. T1896, 1832 average rpm.
SL: 70-74 mph. Gradual 11/5 shape with some lateral break at times. T1896, 1811 average rpm.
CH: 75-79 mph. Thrown with fastball intent, running action arm-side. T1664, 1479 average rpm.
RHP Brody Libel (Glenbard North, 2027) made a strong impression at last Saturday’s event. The sophomore worked his fastball at 87-88 mph, showing a long, loose arm action and a quick release out front. Libel complemented it with a diverse mix: a curveball at 60-64 mph, a slider at 66-69 mph, and a 74-75 mph changeup that landed for strikes 100% of the time. Still early in his development, Libel’s live arm and athleticism on the mound established him as a follow in the class.
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-1, 165-pounds. Lean, high-waisted build with room to add.
Delivery: Hybrid delivery, high leg lift with tuck, drop/drive down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Long, loose arm action, quickness out front.
FB: T88, 86-88 mph. Comes out of the hand clean, firm through the zone. T2131, 2002 average rpm.
CB: 61-64 mph. 11/5 shape, developing feel. T1465, 1409 average rpm.
SL: 66-69 mph. Short, horizontal shape. T1714, 1653 average rpm.
CH: 74-75 mph. Sink action and fade. T1806, 1553 average rpm.
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. Strong outing for the tall right hander as the stuff was lively early. FB ran up to 80 sitting at 79-77; heavy. Battled command issues early on but settled in and became a dominant pitch to collect whiffs with. Threw the CV with confidence in the mid-to-low 70’s. Showed a slight slurve shape with some sharp break that confused RHH. Deceptive sequences that had hitters guessing all morning. Final statline: 5.0 IP / 0 H / 0 ER / 2 K’s.
Libel shined on the mound in his brief start on Thursday afternoon. The athletic RHP displayed a smooth drop and drive delivery with ease down the mound. The arm works quick and from a high ¾ slot. The FB sat 76-78 mph, T79 with ride through the zone. Also flashed a CB that had slurve shape with swing and miss potential. Final line: 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 K.
