9/23/20

Parkland Scout Day: Strike-thrower with cross-fire delivery from 3/4 slot. Aggressive, filled up the zone with 3 pitches including an 85 mph fastball, high-spin, big breaking slider at 74-75 mph and an average 73 mph changeup. Keeps CH down in zone with late sink. Dropped release point a bit with his secondary offerings, yet overall a very impressive 3-pitch arsenal.

Verbally committed to Parkland JC.

4/14/19

Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 165-pound right-hander, wiry-thin frame. Highly competitive mound demeanor, strike-thrower with an advanced breaking ball. Carved up a physical Gull Lake squad in throwing a three-hit complete game. Utilized his slider early and often to rack up 13 strikeouts to only one walk while pounding the strike zone at a 67 percent clip (97 pitches). Often worked backwards, showing an 80-82 mph fastball, then putting away hitters with a slider that ranged between 70-73 with late lateral break. Sometimes toggled the shape and speed of his slider, flashing a 67-69 mph slurve. Both breaking balls had advanced spin, ranging between 2,500-2,769, per Trackman data. Salter started the game by punching out five in the first two innings. Athletic delivery, repeats well, on-line, high-3/4 slot, clean arm swing in the back, athletic out front. Works the lower quadrant of the zone, around the zone with everything.

3/14/19

5-foot-11, 175-pound, right-handed pitcher. Came out of the bullpen and combined with the two other Edwardsville arms to strike out 14 Caravan hitters. Salter truck out five in his two innings of work and only allowed one hit. Calm, confident demeanor on the mound. Stays closed down the mound and worked with rhythm. Arm works short and clean from a high ¾ to over-the-top slot. Fastball comes out easy, run and sinking action at times, 82 mph. Went to his breaking ball often; quality offering, feel for the zone, late sweeping action, 70-71 mph. Follow 2020 arm with more in the tank.
