5.28.14 - Currently unranked senior, committed to Black Hawk Junior College. 6-foot, 160-pound athletic build. Balanced repeatable delivery, with smooth tempo throughout. Good feel and extension out front with both fastball and slider. Leg lift is controlled with foot staying below knee, as stride direction and hands break in line towards home. Mechanics reminiscent of former Bengal star Kyle Funkhouser, though arm action is a little shorter in back. Gave Lemont all they could handle early on as fastball sat 86-88 throughout the first four frames. Fastball showed late life with occasional cut, located better to glove side away from right handed hitters. Missed over the plate or cut fastball a few times when trying to go in on righties. Elevated fastball with two strikes at 88 several times early for strikeouts. 74-77 mph slider was plus for the high school level showing late bite and consistent shape throughout outing. Consistently commanded slider for strikes early in the count, also producing several swings and misses late. 51 of 72 pitches thrown for strikes and 14 of 23 first- pitch strikes may have hurt him a little in the fifth as Lemont got aggressive, especially early in the count on his fastball. Fastball dipped to 82-84 in fifth, and wasn’t helped out by four errors/extra pitches in previous innings. Could see significant rise in final 2014 rankings due to solid performance and above average stuff/command.
