vs Missouri: On the mound for Illinois State Derek Salata pitched the first three and two-thirds innings, mixing a 89-91 fastball with good down plane and a quality straight changeup.
Verbally committed to Illinois State.
Future Games 2016 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed pitcher, sturdy-strong frame and broad shoulders. High-3/4 slot, short, clean arm action, minimal effort. Slow-tempo delivery, works downhill, repeats well. Fastball sat 83-84 mph with occasional arm-side run; more velocity likely to come. Threw consistent strikes with his fastball. Curveball has early break, mostly 63-64 mph, around the plate with it. Changeup ranged between 76-78. Pitched two crisp innings at the Future Games.
6-foot-2, 205-pound strong, solidly built right-handed pitcher. Fastball sat 83-85 mph and touched 86 during a bullpen session. Loose, easy arm action from a high 3/4 window. Slow paced delivery, works with ease and is repeatable. Curveball sat 65-67 mph. Changeup flashed fade action and sat 77-78 mph.
6-foot-2, 205-pound, physically advanced, strong lower-half, workhorse type, right-handed pitcher. High upside right-hander with starter potential at the next level if he develops and shows a third pitch. Slow paced, very repeatable, tall and fall delivery; stays in-line, short stride, upright finish and easy effort throughout. Arm works clean, loose and quick out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball, threw strikes throughout, slight arm-side-run, flashed tilt and life at times, sat 82-84 mph throughout. Curveball, go-to secondary pitch throughout, 11/5 shape, big bending action, pops early at times, feel improved as the outing progressed, 63-66 mph. High level 2018 prospect on the mound.
