Uncommitted, ranked No. 154 in the state. 5-foot-10, 180-pound, strong, compact build. Previously mentioned in our Week 3 Scout Blog for his offense work. The southpaw got the start for Providence Catholic, striking out 13 batters in 5.2 innings of work, allowing one earned run on three hits and walked three. Gomez threw 17 first pitch strikes to 24 batters faced. Worked mainly out of the stretch with easy effort, strong at balance point, shoulders stay level and in line with home, soft at foot strike, lands squared to home with an athletic finish. Gomez uses a two pitch mix from a short arm action, 3/4 slot. Four seam fastball, occasional arm side run, consistently around the zone, held 83-86 mph throughout the outing. Went to his curveball as his main secondary offering, confidence to throw it in any count, 1/7 plane with tight spin, thrown down in the zone, held 68-69 mph.

The left-handed hitting first baseman bats in the three hole for Providence Catholic. Simple, balanced stance, hands held close to the body with a vertical bat, a short stride with fluid rhythm. Athletic, strong hands, on a quick uphill swing plane, looks to pull the baseball with authority. Ready to hit early in the count, Gomez hit a grand slam down the right field line during his second at-bat of the game.

Arm: LH. OF - 81 mph. Short arm action, 3/4 to low 3/4 slot.
Defense: Attacks the baseball with tempo, fluid footwork.
Run: 8.21 runner in the 60.

Delivery: Worked out of the stretch, tall and fall delivery, quick rhythm, lands open towards third base.
Arm Action: LH. Short arm action, low 3/4 slot, regular effort.
FB: T78, 76-77 mph. Sinking movement, thrown for strikes low in the zone.
