Heartland Scout Day: Long bodied righty at 6-foot-7, 235 pounds. Fluid delivery. Long arm path, hooks in back with sling out front to a 3/4 release point. Fastball up to 91, mostly 90. Lacked life when up in zone. Slider has developed into best secondary offering. Out pitch when on at 79-81 mph. Tight spin with late action. Repeated well to his glove side. Swing/miss type pitch at the college level. Also showed feel for 80-83 mph changeup as effective third pitch.
9/9/19: On the mound for Heartland uncommitted 6-foot-7, 235 pound Jack Gilmore ran his fastball up to 89 mph, mostly working 87-88 from the windup and 85-87 from the stretch. With a reliever type delivery and arm action, his best secondary offering is usually his low-80s changeup, but on this look his slider showed above average potential. From a three-quarter slot he tended to work on the side of the ball too often, but when he stayed through the pitch, the 78-81 mph offering showed hard action and swing/miss potential.
