6.5.15 - 5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic LHP/OF impressed on the mound pitching into the ninth inning in the state semifinal game. Works from a long, over-the-top arm slot, slight wrap in back, doesn’t affect ability to get out front, helps when spinning breaking ball. Pulls head off to third base slightly, but a result of posture/achieving true over-the-top slot. Loads over rubber well, lands in line with home plate, repeats delivery. Fastball sat mostly 82-83 mph, touching 84, still touching the low 80’s into the ninth. Great feel for 12/6 curveball, lands for strikes and buries, ability to throw in any count, adds and subtracts from velocity, 62-67 mph. Did not throw 64-65 mph changeup often (missing up in the zone), but according to coach Bill Booker it has been a consistent pitch for him this spring. Also hits in the three-hole, hitting .446 on the year with eight doubles, three triples, and two homers. Hits from an open stance, hands start below back shoulder, relaxed setup, utilizes legs in swing, singled twice, one hard groundball up the middle, the other through the six hole. Lefthander with pitchability should be followed closely in the next year.
