Pitching on a senior-laden staff that included Sean Renzi (Central Michigan) and Brian Evak (UIC), Cresta only worked 17.2 innings last spring for the No. 7-ranked Tigers. But no doubt the right-hander has a live arm. Cresta features an upper-80s fastball and a sharp curveball, a repertoire that helped him go 4-1 last spring. Offensively, Cresta contributed in a big way, finishing with 9 home runs, 7 doubles and 37 RBI. ... The 5-foot-11, 184-pound right-hander showcased a lively 86-87 mph fastball coming from a arm slot. Cresta displayed good rhythm throughout his mechanics and displayed a good arm action and movement on all three pitches. Crestas curveball displayed an 11/5 shape with tight spin and sharp break. He also threw a circle change with late downward arm-side movement. This 5-foot-11, 182-pound right-hander definitely made a strong impression with his 86-87 mph fastball that had late life. Crestas three-quarter slot and whippy arm action provided some funk to his motion and made it hard to pick up the baseball. He also flashed a tight breaking ball, which looks to be his out pitch, and a firm changeup with late sink.
