1.11.15 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed pitcher, solid pitchers build, big hands and long fingers. Delivery is clean and easy, repeatable, tall and fall, works online with squared landing. Arm action works with a long draw, high ¾ arm slot. Fastball showed running action, occasional sink, 83-84 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 65-69 mph. Changeup looked to be best secondary pitch, good feel, firm, 76-79 mph, sinking action, fastball arm speed. Hughes projects well and has an easy demeanor on the mound, solid pitchability.

11/8/14 - Hughes is a long-armed 6-foot-2 198-pound right-handed pitcher.  High ¾ release with easy effort, loose arm action, fastball in 82-84 mph, one of the top velos for the event, tall and fall style, 11-to-5 curveball, late/sharp break at 65-67 mph, could produce hitters to swing and miss, 73-76 mph change up with arm side release, near fastball arm speed. Overall, quick arm speed, smooth rhythm, square landing, athletic finish.

8/17/14 – Hughes is a strong, athletic 6-foot-2, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. He has a high ¾ delivery and quick arm speed. John throws with regular effort and is a little uphill. Hughes had a fastball velocity range of 77-82 MPH. His curveball was at 63-64 MPH. John also displayed a change-up that ranged from 70-71 with near fastball arm speed.

2/23/14 - Hughes is a strong 6-foot-3, 197-pounds RHP.  Hughes was among the top in fastball velo for the event, hitting 85 MPH. He sat at 83-84 MPH with is fastball with some cut.   Hughes showed a 10/4 shape curveball with sharp break at 65-67 MPH and a change at 70-73 MPH with late cut.  He has a ¾ arm slot with free arm action.
