10.19.14 - 6-foot-1, 172-pound lanky right-handed hitting third baseman/outfielder hits from a tall, narrow, open stance, short stride, short slightly uphill bat path with feel for barrel and some power to his pull side producing 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively, profiles better in the infield thanks to short, high ¾ arm slot with soft hands, clean, fluid actions, playing through the baseball and throwing 81 mph across the diamond. Also threw 81 mph from the outfield, from the same short arm action. Ran a 7.33 60.

6/19/14 - 6-foot-2, 175-pound lanky, athletic outfielder/third baseman currently ranked No. 35 in Illinois’ 2016 class, No. 147 overall.  Hits from a slightly open setup, with hands loading back smoothly.   Stride is short, bat path to the baseball is level and short producing 72 mph exit velocity.  Lacks physical strength but is projectable.  Defensively, impressed more in the infield at third, with soft hands and clean, fluid actions, throwing 78 mph across the diamond from short, high ¾ arm action.  Showed infield actions in the outfield, and threw 80 mph from the same short arm action.  Ran a 7.21 60.

1.19.14 - Lanky frame, slender build, room to fill out, 6-foot-1, 170-pound infielder. Defensively plays with soft hands, shows body control, uses his backhand well. Arm action is loose, has the ability to throw from multiple angles, high ¾ slot, accurate with occasional carry, 74 mph across the diamond. Shaw ran a 7.33 in the 60. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, flexed lower half, smooth traditional loading action. Produced consistent line drives, well above average bat speed, whip through the zone. High contact hitter, showed excellent barrel awareness.

7/23/13 - Lanky frame, 6-foot-1, 175-pound multi positional player, projectable frame. Shaw is one of the more productive athletes in the class. Shaw showed a knack for making the big plays with a competitive mentality. Defensively showed well on the infield, advanced infield actions with fluid footwork, above average range, long strided athlete. Arm plays well with a short over the top slot, showed accuracy and carry across the diamond at 76 mph. Hits from a tall setup, smooth load and short stride, athletic pre pitch routine. Well above average bat speed, short path with extension, line drive type hitter, creates barrel whip. Shaw is a gamer and shows a flair for the dramatic. In game play Shaw went 5-for-8 with a triple and an RBI while making several highlight plays in the field. Watch out for Joshua Shaw in the Class of 2016.

5/17/13 - Long thin projectable frame, 6-foot, 158-pound infielder. Offensively shows a mature approach at the plate, slightly open stance. Advanced bat speed for age, athletic swing, good plate awareness. Defensively shows soft hands and athletic feet.

10/28/12 - Shaw is a 6-foot, 150-pound infielder. Shaw showed quick, fluid footwork in the infield while recording 69 mph throws across the infield. Offensively, he hits from a balanced setup using a short stride.
