Drafted 19th overall in the first round of the MLB Draft. ... Committed to Texas ... Foltynewicz has established himself as the best power arm in the state. His fastball usually sits between 88-92 mph, climbing to 93. With his athletic frame and quick, fluid arm, it appears that theres more in the tank, too. A four-year varsity performer, Foltynewicz went 3-0 as a freshman. His sophomore year was when he began to rise to the top of the Class of 2010. Pitching alongside Tony Bucciferro (now at Michigan State), Foltynewicz posted a 10-5 record as a sophomore, with a 1.25 ERA and 90 strikeouts, 30 walks in 79 innings pitched. Last spring he didnt get much run support and finished with a 3-2 record and a 2.2 ERA. In 63 innings he struck out 85 and walked 28. Foltynewicz also has power at the plate, and will once again be counted on to drive in runs for Minooka.
